Know Before You Go

1 Get Tickets ASAP

Purchase tickets ahead of time. This event will sell out and when it does, tickets will not be available at the front gate on the night of the event.

2 Get the App

Download the Official Universal Studios Hollywood™ Park app to check the latest wait and show times, available on the App Store or Google Play.

3 Express Access

Purchase the R.I.P Tour or Universal Express Ticket™ for express access to each maze, show and attraction, including Terror Tram.*  A limited number are sold each night and sell out fast!

*Does not apply to food and retail locations.

4 Be Ready

Print your tickets in advance, or tickets can be scanned directly from a mobile device. Please have your ticket open and ready to scan before reaching the front gate.

5 Arrive Early

Arrive between 5:00pm-6:30pm to enjoy Early Entry at no extra charge! Select mazes will begin opening at 5:15pm.

6 Be nice

If you mistreat the “scareactors” you will be sent home.

7 The Rules

No Costumes, masks or face paint. Food, drinks, bottles, recording/flash photography, flashlights or laser pens are not permitted in the Mazes. Avoid line jumping, use of foul language and inappropriate behavior.

8 Terror Tram

The Terror Tram Line closes at 11:15pm on Halloween Night, Thursdays, & Sundays and 11:45pm on Fridays & Saturdays.

What is new at Halloween Horror Nights this year?

8 terrifying mazes including Stranger Things, Trick ‘r Treat, The First Purge, Poltergeist, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and AMC’s The Walking Dead Attraction, and more to be announced soon. There are 5 new scare zones awaiting you around every dark corner and an all-new Terror Tram experience.  Plus, there’s an all-new live show featuring the high-energy theatrics of Jabbawockeez.

What is Halloween Horror Nights?

Halloween Horror Nights is a specially ticketed, nighttime event at Universal Studios Hollywood. On select nights from September to November, Universal Studios Hollywood is transformed into L.A.'s most terrifying Halloween experience, filled with walk-through maze attractions, intense scare zones, a mind-blowing live show, and high-octane rides and attractions.

What are the event dates?

Select nights on September 14-November 3, 2018. Please check the event calendar for details.

What time does the event begin?

Event starts at 7:00pm.

What time does early entry begin?

Guests who purchase a ticket online from hollywood.halloweenhorrornights.com or hhntickets.universalstudioshollywood.com will receive Early Park Admission to the event, which allows early access to select mazes.
Arrive between 5:00pm-6:30pm to enjoy Early Entry at no extra charge! Select mazes will begin opening at 5:15pm.

Can I wear a costume or mask?

Costumes and masks are not permitted at the event. Guests wearing costumes will be turned away at the front gate.

What are the best nights to attend?

Enjoy the best discounts and shorter wait times during the first 5 nights of the event: September 14, 15, 20, 21 & 22.

Is there security or police on property?

For the safety and convenience of our guests, Universal Studios Hollywood has a Los Angeles Sherriff’s Department Sub-Station on premise at Universal CityWalk Center Court.

Is there anything that closes early?

The Terror Tram line closes at 11:15pm on Halloween Night, Thursdays & Sundays and 11:45pm on Fridays & Saturdays. Plan your night accordingly so you don’t miss the Terror Tram experience.

Is there an age minimum for the event?

There is no age minimum for the event. However, this event is recommended for mature audiences only and not recommended for children under 13. They will be exposed to extremely adult material. There are no refunds for this event.

Can I leave the event and come back later in the evening?

Sorry, re-entries are not permitted.

Where can I get more information?

Prior to park arrival, download the Official Universal Studios Hollywood™ Park app from the App Store or Google Play to check the latest wait and show times. Information is also posted on a regular basis on Facebook, Twitter, & Instagram. Keep checking the website as more information will be added.

How does daylight savings time affect Halloween Horror Nights?

It does not affect the event, daylight savings time ends at 2:00am November 4, at which time the park will close.

Are there any restrictions to going through the mazes?

Mazes contain loud sounds, sudden movements, and effects which may be too intense for children. Parental discretion advised. Persons with the following conditions should not experience mazes:
  • Heart Conditions or Abnormal Blood Pressure
  • Expectant Mothers
  • Medical Sensitivity to Strobe Effects
  • Medical Sensitivity to Fog Effects
  • Fear of Enclosed  Spaces

If it rains, will the event be cancelled?

Event occurs rain or shine. No refunds will be given.

Will the regular rides and attractions be open?

Several of Universal Studios Hollywood's favorite rides and attractions will remain open for the nighttime Halloween Horror Nights experience. Specifically, Transformers™: The Ride - 3D, The Simpsons Ride™, and Revenge of the MummySM- The Ride. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, Studio Tour and other select attractions will not be open during this event. For access to all daytime rides and attractions, as well as same-day evening admission to Halloween Horror Nights, check out our After 2PM Day/Night Combo Ticket.

Are you using the trams and the studio backlot?

Yes, guests will take the Terror Tram to the Universal backlot and will disembark to walk among some of the scariest sets on the backlot.

Where can I buy tickets?

You can purchase tickets online. Discounted tickets are available online if you purchase in advance for many of the event nights. We recommend you get your tickets early, as they will sell out.

How much are tickets?

Does my daytime park admission allow me to stay for HHN?

Your ticket is only valid for daytime admission unless you have a Day/Night Combo Ticket that includes same-day evening admission to the Halloween Horror Nights event. Visit the Tickets page for more info.

Are tickets refundable?

Sorry, no refunds will be available for this event.

Do Pass Members receive special pricing to purchase Halloween Horror Nights tickets?

Yes, Annual and Season Pass Members may purchase Halloween Horror Nights tickets for both themselves and their guests by taking advantage of a special discount.  To purchase, enter your Pass Member ID (located on the back of your Pass) where requested after clicking here.

I’m a Platinum Pass Member, how do I redeem my complimentary ticket?

Platinum Annual Pass Members are entitled to one free General Admission ticket to Halloween Horror Nights (per Pass). To redeem, just present your valid Platinum Annual Pass at any Universal Studios Hollywood Front Gate turnstile on any one of the following dates: Sept. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30; Oct. 4, 5, 11, 12, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28, 31; Nov. 1, 2, 3. Are there any special college or corporate discounts?

Yes, check with your college ticketing office or corporate employee services department.

Is my ticket also good for the Halloween event at Universal Orlando?

Your ticket is only good for admission to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, in Los Angeles.

Is there a ticket that allows quicker access to the mazes and rides?

Make the most of your visit by purchasing a R.I.P. Tour, Universal Express Ticket or an After 2PM Day/Night Combo with Universal Express™ which include admission to the event. Tickets are very limited and often sell out so purchase them early.

Which attractions will I have Universal Express™ access to for the After 2PM Day/Night Combo Universal Express™ Ticket?

You can enjoy One-Time Universal Express access to all daytime attractions during the day, PLUS One-Time Universal Express access to all nighttime attractions at Halloween Horror Nights. For attractions available both during the day and night, you will have Universal Express access to these attractions once during the day and once at night.

I purchased the Universal Express™ Ticket online. Where do I pick up my pass/credential?

Guests with a Universal Express Ticket™ or After 2PM Day/Night Combo with Universal Express™, pick up your credential at the front gate turnstiles.

Is there a VIP Experience?

Yes, the R.I.P. Tour is the ultimate way to experience the terror featuring an expert guided tour of Halloween Horror Nights™ mazes and EXCLUSIVE dining and interactive experiences. Learn More about the R.I.P Tour offerings.

How do you accommodate guests with disabilities?

Universal Studios Hollywood prides itself on providing complete and convenient access for all our guests with disabilities. Many rides, attractions, escalators and parking structures are designed to comfortably accommodate guests in wheelchairs and other disabilities. There are designated guests-with-disabilities entrances for all our attractions in the park. How do you accommodate guests with hearing impairments?

With one week notice, sign language interpreting services will be made available at no charge. To arrange for sign language interpreting services, please go to www.universalstudioshollywood.com/contact-us, to contact Guest Relations or call 1-800-864-8377, option 9. Please complete the form to include your date of visit and number of guests in your party and we will be in touch in 1-2 business days.

Are service animals allowed in the park?

Service animals are permitted into our event. Guests with service animals should see attendant for further assistance. Service Animals are welcome in all of our restaurant and merchandise locations, attraction queues and most other locations throughout Universal Studios Hollywood. Additionally, there are specific entry/boarding requirements for each attraction and maze to assist the service animal’s owner in making an informed decision about their animal’s safe admission. Please consult the listing for each ride and attraction in our Rider’s Guide for Rider Safety and Guests with Disabilities or our designated entrance signs for more information.

How do you accommodate guests who require mobility assistance?

Guests may remain in standard wheelchair throughout. Guests using Electric Convenience Vehicle should see attendant for assistance. Wheelchair and ECV’s (Electric Convenience Vehicle) rentals are available for rent just inside the park, across from the Universal Studios Store.  The rental fees are: Wheelchairs – $15; ECVs – $60. There is a $25.00 refundable deposit fee for wheelchair rentals.

How do you accommodate guests with oxygen tanks?

Oxygen tanks can be brought with you at some of our attractions and mazes.  However, due to the dramatic movement of the ride vehicles and certain flame effects at Universal Studios Hollywood, oxygen tanks are not permitted at the following locations: −        Lower Lot
  • Revenge of the Mummy℠ – The Ride
  • Transformers™: The Ride-3D

  • The Simpsons Ride™

Where is Universal Studios Hollywood located?

We are conveniently located right off the 101 (Hollywood) Freeway, approximately ten minutes north of Downtown Los Angeles. Exit either Universal Studios Boulevard or Lankershim Blvd. Our address is 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, CA 91608.

Will there be food available at the event?

Yes. Bring your appetite because many of the Theme Park's restaurants will be offering goodies to kill your hunger pangs.

Can I bring food and drinks into the park?

Sorry, no outside food or beverages are allowed inside Universal Studios Hollywood.

Is alcohol served at the event?

Alcohol will be served at select locations during certain hours, subject to availability. Outside drinks not permitted at Universal Studios Hollywood during Halloween Horror Nights. Valid State or Government ID required for proof of age 21 or older for alcohol consumption. IDs will be checked.
